Returning

It has been a while, two moon months, to be exact.
…Year Ahead readings are always from November of the current year to October of the following year, and pulled for each of the 13 Moons. So, naturally, there will be some overlap of energies. In my practice, the New Year also coincides with All Souls’ Day (November 1st), while New Year’s Eve aligns with Samhain (Halloween). I also like to pull a card for the overall energy of the Year to sort of keep us in alignment as we progress through each month and its gifts.

And so begins Hawthorn, heavy on the protection, reexamining and strengthening current boundaries as well as erecting new ones. A need to cleanse and clear out the clutter, what no longer is necessary and no longer works, bringing in a sense or semblance of balance to our lives moving forward. So much is going on around us that returning to self and centering is needed almost daily. While this can be and mean your external surroundings, it can also refer to your internal state [of mind].
We’ve had many planetary transits these last few months, and maybe you’ve got a backlog that has all but pushed to the surface, silently (or loudly) demanding your attention. Wherever your attention goes, that is where your energy flows—so where is yours? Oftentimes returning is accompanied by periods of stillness, moments where we quiet down the noise and ask our Selves for clarity. Personally, this is where I am now, even while typing this.
The month of Alder (March 18 to April 14) saw in us how we may have blocked or walled ourselves from something, be it an experience or people, and we were asked to trust our intuition and to move accordingly.
Willow further held us by elevation our vibrations—an entirely new era has been rolling in and it something that will last for at least the next 20 years. The energy of the Maverick helped us step into new relationships (platonic, business, familial, romantic, etc) while still being whole unto ourselves, knowing our worth.
And now? Now it feels like if any lines became blurred that we redraw them anew, that we clear or bridge a gap if it no longer feels right.
Energies: Protection, cleansing, and balance.
Focus: Strengthening personal boundaries, securing foundations, and balancing opposites.
Themes: Bridging between what is tangible and spiritual, harmonizing relationships and resources.
For me, I returned to my previous night shift and while I have enjoyed being back in the lab, it also came with creating and maintaining new routines and boundaries. I am still working on finding which works best for me, but we are ever-learning, and it is okay that it will take some time. I also noted that sleep has become a bit more difficult to maintain (for me and those I’ve asked around me).

This year, we all have been called to the Psychopomp Threshold, the Pathway that combines both the Muse…inspiration from the natural world around us…and the Guardian…the challenger, the hardened Seeker, that is also where we reassess before we move forward. This looks much like a continuous journeying inward as we dwell in both worlds at once, finding that balance that is most right and best aligned for us. It feels like there will be many plot twists and challenges up ahead that will give us pause and have us retreat within in order to get clear once more.
Our Guide through this year is that of the Maverick Threshold, the Pathway that combines both the Spark…that initial idea, feeling, nudge etc. that spurs us on…and the Ancient…the Primordial energies of all who/that came before, be it in the earth itself or in our very blood and bones. And in this case, it literally is the very earth that is our guide. She is changing, shifting before our very eyes, and she asks us not only to walk with her, but to emulate the very same (however that will be for us). She has been crying out, this elder of ours, and we need to listen, to reconnect (that is a message for someone).
